Newborn session

I still need to practice indoor photography a lot more, but I think what I captured turned out pretty well. Take a look at the kids' tab to see the latest in my portfolio! Someday I'll get me a new lens, and that will help me rock indoor pics more. Someday. :)

New experiences

Recently had the opportunity to do a wedding. The majority of my experience thus far has been in outdoor photography. I feel like I've got a pretty good handle on that, although there is absolutely room for growth. But this wedding challenged me in that I had to take many shots indoors (some with low lighting), some moving shots, and some of a large group. In preparation for photographing inside, I got myself some new equipment including: a 5-in-1 reflector disc, a softscreen to diffuse the flash to minimize harsh shadows, and a macro extension tube set. Honestly I don't know how much they all helped, but I used them in case they would help. The tube set was for sure the least useful for this particular shoot, but it was really fun to play with both before and during the wedding. haha The good news is, my first look at the pictures looks like they were overall pretty good and some were downright awesome. I'll be posting the best shots in the new wedding tab later on this week.

Introducing

Welcome to Rachael Allred Photography! I currently can only claim amateur photography skills, but I improve with each session. I have always loved photography, and since becoming the owner of a quality DSLR camera have been very interested in becoming a skilled photographer myself. My paternal grandfather was a talented photographer - was a photographer in the navy, in fact - and once owned his own photography studio (incidentally, that's where he met my grandmother). I'm hoping that his eye for framing gorgeous photos was genetic. Explore the tabs to see some of my best shots to date!
